PROJECT: CARPE DIEM
INTRODUCTION
In a space where digital identity and asset ownership can wield significant power, I aim to create an art project that transcends identity and instead focuses on ideology. My project seeks to harness the power of community and empower individuals to become advocates for digital art, community, and blockchain technology.
Through this project, I plan to establish a guerrilla marketing company that aims to help other NFT communities onboard effectively - an area that is currently lacking attention. By doing so, I hope to bring attention to the broader potential of the blockchain and digital art, while also empowering communities to take ownership of their own success.
BACKGROUND & INSPIRATION
Carpe Diem is inspired by the desire to level the playing field for everyone and the belief that the blockchain has the power to achieve this for many. Through this project, I aim to observe social behavior by utilizing art, desire, greed, belief, and fear.
Carpe Diem will create unique mechanics that reward community participation over purchase power. While I value the role of purchase power, I want to highlight that belief and conviction in an artist can be equally powerful to someone that only purchases art from deep pockets. To achieve this, I plan to assign different weights to community metrics, which will be accounted for at the end of the project.
Ultimately, my goal is to demonstrate that participation and engagement with a community can be just as valuable as financial investment, and that by empowering and valuing community participation, we can create a more equitable and inclusive space for all.
VISION & OBJECTIVES
My vision for Carpe Diem is to gradually evolve over time as we accumulate a stronger and more engaged community. I believe that the power of this project lies in the community, and that by harnessing its potential, we can become a powerful force that not only benefits ourselves but also helps other communities around us.
As we collaborate with other projects, the value proposition of this project will become apparent. Carpe Diem will be able to bring a community of thought-provoking industry leaders that have been carefully cultivated, and together we will create a space that is inspiring, inclusive, and empowering.

THE ARTISTIC JOURNEY UNVEILED: INCENTIVIZING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND OWNERSHIP
Throughout the Carpe Diem art project, I embarked on a journey as an artist and designer, driven by the desire to explore community building and experiment with the metrics of action and reaction. This experience provided me with invaluable insights into effectively incentivizing and mobilizing large groups of people within the artistic space, while also considering the dynamic attention span unique to this field.
The project commenced with a 24-hour minting window that captured the attention of an impressive number of over 48,000 participants. To offer choices to the community, I introduced the options of GIFT, BURN, SELL, or HODL, accompanied by rewarding participants who engaged in gifting.
To further engage the community, two burn windows were introduced. The first required the burning of three edition 1 mints to receive an edition 2 mint, followed by a second window where burning eleven edition 1 mints would result in an edition 3 mint. The community's response played a pivotal role in unlocking subsequent mechanics.
Early participants and those actively participating on the Twitter timeline were rewarded with airdrops, adding an extra layer of incentive for engagement. As the community continued to grow, I envisioned dividing it into smaller activist groups known as the 88s. These groups were composed of five color variants of the Carpe Diem Skull, forming an eight-row, eight-column grid and creating five distinct communities within the larger group. This division aimed to foster tighter community building and collaboration in the future.
Promoting community ownership was a key objective of this project, and to achieve this, community members collaborated to create a multi-sig wallet. Additionally, a unique opportunity was presented through the Big Commitment burn. Burning 69 edition 1 mints granted participants access to the exclusive edition "69 the calm." This initiative encouraged community members to pool their assets, leading to the collective ownership of Carpe Diem assets.
All of these features and mechanisms were thoughtfully designed and implemented, driven by a desire to facilitate meaningful engagement and interaction within the community throughout the artistic journey.
